| About New England Mutiny |
The New England Mutiny has been internationally recognized as one of the world's top women's soccer teams on multiple occasions; #14 in the world being the highest position reached. The team won the National Championship in 2001 as a member of the amateur women's league; the USL's W-league. After winning the title, the organization accepted promotion to the Women's Premier Soccer League.
The New England Mutiny won the Eastern Division championship in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and reached the National Finals in 2004. The organization's crowning moment occurred on July 29, 2004 when the Mutiny, in a World Cup preparation match, nearly upset the Women's National Team of China in front of 3,203 fans. A stunned Chinese squad trailed the Mutiny 3-1 after 60 minutes of play before China sneeked out a 4-3 victory in the game's final minutes.
After a successful 2008 season which saw the Mutiny reach the Conference playoffs, the team head into the 2009 season with confidence, despite the loss of star player Meghan Schnur. The five-time All-WPSL selection and U.S. U-23 National team member being drafted 11th overall in the 2009 WPS Draft by Sky Blue F.C.
The Mutiny organization provide a playing opportunity for players with professional or national team aspirations and a training ground for top level college players during the summer. The organization will enter YPSL in 2009 in order to develop talented youth players that will one day represent the Mutiny at the senior level.
